Kitchen Design Brisbane – Kitchen Design Basics Part Two

Kitchen Design Brisbane

Following on from the previous kitchen design Brisbane article, we are going to launch straight into the three key elements of kitchen design and what separates us from the other kitchen design Brisbane competitors.

Element One – Explore your dreams and possibilities.

The first and often most enjoyable part of the process is to identify precisely that which you long for in your new kitchen. Spend a few hours sitting down and listing or drawing out the features you would like included in your ultimate kitchen. In doing so, it allows you to open up your creativity and expand your project possibilities.

By exploring the myriad of options available to you and presenting these to our design team – we will be able to weave into your kitchen design budget what will be affordable and most of all, what will be practical for your situation. To seek inspiration during this stage – pick up a few copies of interior design magazines, trade publications or even search the net for kitchen designs that appeal to you. Perhaps spend some time inside a neighbour or friends house analysing their kitchen to help you get some clarity. Without clarity, everything will appear dull and boring; the sooner you can visualise exactly what you want, the sooner you’ll be walking in the front door to your brand new kitchen.

Another option is to visit high end display homes or houses for sale that are well and truly out of the budget for most people. Spend a weekend dedicated to open homes and visit the multimillion dollar palatial estates with your camera and notebook in hand. Notice how they make use of the space, what features they incorporate and how you can apply them to your own. Think BIG, from your dreams stems creativity and with that, the desire to achieve ones personal renovation project pales into insignificance. While you may not be able to afford all of the lavish features, picking out just one or two ‘gold nuggets’ could be all that is required to transform your kitchen from mild to wild!

The possibility of moving a wall, creating an opening or altogether completely removing a set portion of the house to make way for a new kitchen is not unheard of, and has definitely been done before. As stated previously, to create that open plan feeling that many aspire to today will require extensive modification of older, federation, war or post war houses. Put simply, the removal of a wall, or the extension of the kitchen space are sometimes the only options available to clients who require more space and freedom inside their kitchens.

With more space also comes more options and availabilities to you. The extra space could be used as an alternative place to eat if you built an island benchtop or even incorporated a pull out or fold down kitchen table for the family to eat quick meals at during busy times of the day. The extra bench space will open up a huge amount of additional storage space for anything you can imagine. Another inclusion could be a pantry – strategic use of storage space in the pantry by opting for slide out drawers instead of shelves is a massive return in the long run for any family.

In the next article we will look at the second key element in kitchen design. Remember, it is vitally important to include all three elements when working on your new kitchen design project so please take a moment of your time to read over it and absorb the knowledge.
